United Plate Glass Company has established itself as a high-quality and reliable company in distributing and fabricating custom architectural glass and aluminum products. Owners, Mike and Joyce Cully, turned to W.K. Thomas and Associates when they decided to add a third building to their campus-like facility. W.K. Thomas had done additions to the first two buildings to expand production and manufacturing space. For the third building, Mike and Joyce had a vision for a “showpiece.”
They wanted an office building with plenty of glass and an aluminum storefront to feature the products they sell and manufacture. After successful work on the first two buildings, they chose a local architect and W.K. Thomas to make their vision come to life.
This facility was the perfect application for a Butler “Hybrid” building. The production area was a typical Butler Widespan pre-engineered building, featuring wide open space with minimal columns and the reliable MR-24 roof at a low cost per square foot. The office portion was engineered and fabricated by Butler’s Conventional Steel division, and features distinctive angles, two story lobby, expansive areas of curtainwall glass and a conventional EPDM roof system. The W.K. Thomas team was excited to undertake this unique project with a lot of visual appeal.
